Das Forschungsvorhaben “CoSMOS – Community based Sustainable Water Management and Observation System” ist eines von 12 Vorhaben, dass vom BMBF in einer Vorphase zur Vorbereitung des Hauptantrags gefördert wird.
DIE GEWÄSSER-EXPERTEN! sind mit alten und neuen Partnern dabei und setzen damit ihre erfolgreiche Forschungsarbeit in Südafrika weiter fort.
Ziel des F&E-Vorhabens CoSMOS ist die Entwicklung und Etablierung eines community-basierten nachhaltigen Wassermanagement- und Monitoringsystems auf regionaler Flusseinzugsgebietsebene zur Reduzierung von Wasserqualitätsproblemen und Dürrefolgen hinsichtlich Wasserverfügbarkeit.
Community-basierte und bürgerwissenschaftliche Ansätze sind dabei charakterisiert durch eine Bottom-up Wassermanagement- und Governance-Strategie, um Daten- und Umsetzungslücken der offiziellen Wassermanagement-Institutionen zu schließen.
Mit Fokus auf die lokalen Stakeholder, Wassernutzer sowie Wasserverbände wird ein System von Good-Practice-Beispielen in Zusammenarbeit mit staatlichen Wassermanagement-Institutionen etabliert.
Im Juli findet die erste Reise nach Südafrika statt, um mit südafrikanischen Partnern eine Summer-School vorzubereiten. Herr Nienhaus und Frau Greger werden an dieser Reise teilnehmen.
The research project "CoSMOS - Community based Sustainable Water Management and Observation System" is one of 12 projects funded by the BMBF in a preliminary phase for the preparation of the main application.
DIE GEWÄSSER-EXPERTEN! are participating in an old and new constellation and are thus continuing their successful research in South Africa.
The aim of the project CoSMOS is to develop and establish a community-based sustainable water management and monitoring system at regional river basin level to reduce water quality problems and drought impacts in terms of water availability.
Community-based and citizen science approaches are characterised by a bottom-up water management and governance strategy to fill data and implementation gaps of official water management institutions.
With a focus on local stakeholders, water users and water associations, a system of good practice examples is established in cooperation with state water management institutions.
In July, the first trip to South Africa will take place to prepare a summer school with South African partners. Mr Nienhaus and Ms Greger will take part in this trip.
